Onimusha: Way of the Sword

How to save at a Spirit Mirror, plus seven PC troubleshooting guides for launch crashes, CrashReport, GPU drivers, shader caches, black screens, HDR and low FPS.

Start with the sourced saving answer below, or choose the symptom that matches your Steam version of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. These guides summarize Capcom’s English troubleshooting instructions and current Steam requirements, with one change and one comparison at a time. They do not claim hands-on verification of every fix. Keep security protection enabled and check diagnostic files for private information before sharing them with support.

How to save your progress

Save your progress at a Spirit Mirror. Game8’s illustrated walkthrough shows the mirror beside Okuni at the start of the Kiyomizu-dera chapter and identifies it as a place to save. This concerns Onimusha: Way of the Sword, not the earlier Onimusha games.

We have not verified PC-specific buttons or automatic-save timing. Use the controls shown on your own screen rather than assuming that touching the mirror alone saved your progress.

  1. Find a Spirit Mirror in the area.
  2. Approach it and use the controls shown on your own screen.
  3. If a save destination or overwrite prompt appears, check it before continuing.
  4. Wait until saving finishes before closing the game.

Saving in the game and copying PC save files as a backup are different tasks. A file backup is a precaution before changing settings or files; it is not a substitute for saving your current progress in the game.

Save and settings locations

Save data

We have not independently verified the PC save-file path for this English guide. Do not guess a save folder or treat shader caches as saved progress. Back up confirmed save files before making any save-related changes.

Settings files

<Steam game library>\steamapps\common\OnimushaWotS\config.ini

Use Steam → Library → right-click the game → Manage → Browse local files to open the actual installation. The library placeholder above is not a path to paste into Run. Copy config.ini before editing it.
