Aniimo Video Memory Error: Read GPU Memory and Check Intel CPU Scope

For an out-of-video-memory message or repeated crashes that persist after reducing graphics quality. The message alone does not establish that VRAM was full.

The short answer

Record dedicated and shared memory on the GPU Aniimo actually uses while it is running. Lower texture quality one level and compare both usage and the error in the same scene. If it persists, check drivers and files; affected Intel 13th/14th-generation desktop CPUs have a separate stability branch.

Key facts

Historical version 1.1 note
The September 23 review records memory-management and scene-load improvements; compare again after available updates.
Read memory during play
Task Manager → Performance → the GPU used by Aniimo → dedicated/shared GPU memory
Dedicated versus shared
On a discrete GPU, dedicated memory is mainly VRAM; shared memory is system RAM, not an equivalent VRAM upgrade.
Illustration only, not a benchmark
7.6/8 GB before → 5.2/8 GB after lowering textures. Also check whether the error stopped.
Affected Intel desktop processors
Match the exact CPU and motherboard before following manufacturer stability guidance.

Step 1|Identify the active GPU and record both memory types

Measure while Aniimo is running, not only after it has closed.

Time: About 5 minutes · Risk: low

  1. Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc → Performance → GPU. If multiple GPUs exist, add GPU engine through Details → column heading menu → Select columns and match Aniimo’s GPU number with Performance.
  2. Record dedicated and shared usage/capacity before launch and in the failure-prone scene, with screenshots if possible.
  3. On a discrete GPU, dedicated memory is mainly onboard VRAM; shared memory uses system RAM. Do not add the shared limit to VRAM as equivalent fast capacity. Integrated GPUs may show reserved system memory as dedicated.

GPU 0 is not always the gaming GPU. Usage drops after exit, so a post-crash reading cannot establish the earlier peak.

Step 2|Lower textures one level and compare the same scene

Keep other conditions constant initially.

Time: About 10 minutes · Risk: low

  1. Record resolution, texture quality, other running apps, location and viewpoint.
  2. Lower texture quality one level and restart if prompted. If the settings screen cannot be reached, continue to the next check without editing files speculatively.
  3. Compare dedicated/shared memory and the error at the same resolution and scene. A change from 7.6/8 GB with a crash to 5.2/8 GB without one is an illustrative clue, not a measured Aniimo result.
  4. If little changes, separately close recording software or unused browser sessions and compare again. Lower usage with continued errors calls for other checks.

Task Manager can miss a brief spike. A low sample alone does not eliminate VRAM pressure.

Step 3|Check the matching driver and repair the installation

Record each result before moving on.

Time: About 10 minutes · Risk: low

  1. Record the active GPU model and check its NVIDIA, AMD, Intel or PC-maker driver guidance. Restart Windows after an update.
  2. For the official launcher, close the game and use the top-right settings repair option. For Steam, use Aniimo Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
  3. Repeat the same scene. If the error remains, retain its text/time, GPU/CPU models and memory readings, then use the Intel branch only if applicable.

Results that did not fix the problem help the next reader too.

Step 4|Check the affected Intel desktop CPU guidance

Aniimo’s official advice includes video-memory messages among possible symptoms in affected systems.

Time: About 30 minutes · Risk: high

  1. Read the processor model in Settings → System → About and compare it with the official affected desktop scope. Record instability in other games or blue screens too.
  2. Identify the exact PC or motherboard model. Check its manufacturer’s BIOS instructions; Intel currently recommends relevant Intel Default Settings and a BIOS containing microcode 0x12F or later.
  3. If uncertain about updating, or instability continues, contact the PC/motherboard maker or Aniimo support with the exact model, error and reproduction details. Do not infer this cause on an out-of-scope CPU.

Intel’s Vmin Shift scope is affected desktop processors, not same-generation mobile CPUs. The original Aniimo guidance also mentions XTU ratios; this guide does not prescribe a universal ratio change. Follow the exact model’s manufacturer procedure.

Avoid

  • Do not diagnose from low memory usage measured only after the crash.
  • Do not read GPU 0 without checking which GPU runs Aniimo.
  • Do not apply another motherboard model’s BIOS.

Important cautions

  • Shared-memory capacity is not current usage or additional onboard VRAM.
  • Use manufacturer BIOS guidance for the exact product.

FAQ

Is 8 GB dedicated plus 8 GB shared equivalent to 16 GB VRAM?

No. Shared memory is system RAM available to the GPU, not equivalent onboard VRAM. Compare current dedicated and shared usage separately.

Why can the error appear when dedicated memory seems available?

A brief peak may be missed and usage falls after exit. The official guide also identifies similar messages in affected Intel desktop systems; compare the scene results and exact CPU scope.

Does the same Vmin Shift issue apply to Intel 13th/14th-generation laptops?

Intel excludes mobile processors from that desktop issue. A laptop may still have other causes of the same error, so continue the GPU/driver checks and model-specific support guidance.
